Farabi International Award

The process of “evaluating, judging, and choosing” research works is carried out through the following stages:

First stage; scientific screening: At the screening stage, members of the scientific group choose those works which conform to the basic standards of ‘research works’ to be judged, and the judges evaluate them. Their decisions are based on ‘absolute group consensus on rejecting the work’; otherwise, despite any misgivings or uncertainties, the work goes to the next stage. At this stage, the worksheet for each work is filled in and its judges are selected, and the related proceedings which hold the titles of the works rejected or chosen to be judged are signed by all the members of the group.  

Second stage; first overall assessment: At this stage, the works selected in the previous stage are sent to two judges specialized in that particular subject. The judges chosen by the scientific group assess and evaluate the works independently and anonymously and in accordance with the standards and criteria specified in the relevant worksheets. If the judges do not reach an agreement, a third judge is appointed by the group, and the final decision is based on the sum of the points of the two judges whose opinions are closest to each other. At this stage, works which receive an average rating of 60 percent or higher enter the next stage.

Third stage; second overall assessment: Works which have received an average rating of 60 percent in the previous stage are sent to two additional judges (different from the previous judges). After receiving the results of the third stage, the scientific group evaluates the results and gives the final score according to the average score of the two "first and second overall assessment" stages. A minimum rating of 75% in the “Youth Section” and 80% in the “Adult Section” is required for entry to the next stage.

Fourth stage; group selection: At this stage, the scientific group evaluates the average score received in the two previous stages (at least four additional judgments for each work) and adds any scores gained from “published articles featuring the results of the research” (up to 20 points), recording them in the final assessment form. Then, it decides the final score of the research work, chooses “selected” or “praiseworthy” works, and provides the Head of the Secretariat or the Award Secretary with a list of their titles and full files through a formal letter, thus introducing them to the Award Scientific Council.

Fifth stage; final selection: The final work selection and rating is done by the Scientific Council. At this stage, the head of each group introduces the selected works and the documents relating to their judgments at a meeting of the Scientific Council and defends their decision. At this stage, the scientific level of the work chosen by different groups is compared to each other, and after reviewing each work and discussing the judgments, the best works are chosen and rated by the majority of the members.
