July 5; The Closing Ceremony of 13th Farabi International Award

The closing ceremony of the 13th Farabi International Award (FIA) will be held on Tuesday July 5, 2021 at 8 AM (Tehran time) with the presence of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran and prominent professors and researchers in Iran International Conference Center, in Tehran.
In this ceremony, the winners of the Award will be honored in both national and international sections.
The Farabi International Award, as the most prestigious Award of humanities and Islamic studies in the Islamic world, is held annually by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran under the management of the Institute of Cultural and Social Studies of that Ministry.
The FIA aims to introduce and honor the best researches in the field of humanities and Islamic studies. Works which are both innovative and research-based, are accepted, reviewed, evaluated, selected and honored in the award.
FIA presents the awards in the following categories:
- Pioneers in the field of humanities and Islamic studies in Iran
- Prominent scientific personalities in the field of humanities and Islamic studies in Iran who have passed away
- Top theorists
- Books, research projects, articles, doctoral dissertations and master's theses in adult and young sections
- The top translator from Persian to the other languages and vice versa
- Top scientific associations
- Top research scientific Journals
The following are the most important features of the FIA:
- Being Periodical: FIA is held annually in Iran. The first edition of the Award was held in February 2007 and the twelfth in July 2021.
- Being International: participation in the Award is open for all researchers (Iranian and non-Iranian) in the field of humanities and Islamic studies. This award provides the necessary grounds for the exchange of views between thinkers, scientists, researchers and scientific and cultural institutes of the world, and facilitates the acquaintance of Iranian researchers with the new scientific and cultural achievements of the world, as well as the opportunity for non-Iranian researchers to get acquainted with the scientific achievements of Iran.
- Transparency of Processes: in the FIA, all activities and the process of carrying them out have been documented and approved by relevant councils in order to avoid imposing opinions, and act based on expert decisions and rules. Adherence to the approved rules is one of the inviolable principles of the Award, and the revision and improvement of the regulations is continuously pursued through legal channels.
- Certainty of judgment:  To make sure about integrity of judgment and impartiality in assessing works, emphasis is laid on the rule of law on the one hand, and on the other hand, according to decisions made by the Policymaking Council of the Award, all persons who work with any of the scientific councils or executive sections of the Award will not be allowed to take part as a candidate in that edition of the Award. In this regard, a number of members change in each period. Also, each work is evaluated by multiple reviewers.
- Set an example indirectly: This Award aims to play an informal role in raising the quality and creating innovation in researches in the fields of humanities and Islamic studies by setting an example.
