This year’s cash prize of the late Dr. Daryush Shaygan was donated by his family to the Nikan Institute to purchase an oxygen concentrator for Covid-19 patients, according to the Permanent Secretariat of Farabi International Award.
Late Dr. Shaygan was selected and awarded as a pioneer in Humanities in the closing ceremony of the 11 Farabi International Award on 17 August 2020.
It is remarkable to mention that in the previous round of the award, some other selected scholars or their families donated their prize to other institutes and charities to commemorate the culture of benevolence. They include families of late Tooran Mirhadi, the Pioneer in Humanities of the 10th Award (donated to the Child Book Council), late Mohammad Reza Hakimi, the pioneer in Humanities and Islamic Sciences of the 10th Award (donated as a contribution to the purchase of religious books), Hooshang Ebtehaj, the pioneer in Humanities of the 9th Award (donated to build a temporary shelter for the victims of Kermanshah earthquake) and Dr. Seyyed Javad Tabatabai, the Outstanding Scholar of the Political Sciences Group of the 9th Award (donated to purchase books).
