Farabi International Award

The fifth meeting of the “Neo-World” series on the future of the world, culture, science, and technology was held on Tuesday, 28th February, at the Institue for Cultural and Social Studies under the title of “The Role of University in Strengthening Sustainable peace in the World”.

According to the public relations report of the Permanent Secretariat of the Farabi International Award, the first meeting of the International Council of the 14th Farabi International Award was held in person and virtually.

Dr. Reza Gholami, the Head of the Permanent Secretariat of the Farabi International Award expressed his condolences on the passing of Professor Mirza Mola Ahmad, a prominent Tajik researcher and Iranologist.

The fourth meeting of the “Neo-World” series on the future of the world, culture, science, and technology will be held on Wednesday, January 25 under the title of “Practical Rationality and its Role in the Revival of Islamic Civilization”.

The second meeting of the “Neo-World” series on the future of the world, culture, science and technology held on Saturday December 25, with the participation of Dr. Hamed Taheri Kia; a faculty member of the Institute for Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS) and Professor Elena Voevoda; Head of the Department of Pedagogy and Psychology of MGIMO University, Russia as speakers.

On 20th of November,2022, The secretariat for the world congress on Farabi and Islamic Culture and Civilization hosted a ceremony to commemorate and honor the scientific position of a distinguished and towering scholar of Farabi research, prof. Muhsin Mahdi. The ceremony was held at Farabi hall of the Institute for Social and Cultural Studies, Tehran/Iran.

Dr. Reza Gholami, Director of the Institute for Cultural and Social Studies and the head of the Permanent Secretariat of Farabi International Award, in a message to the ceremony of the dedication of Professor Osman Bakar honored this prominent Malaysian scholar of Islam.

Professor Osman Bakar, a prominent Malaysian Islamoligist, received the prize of the Farabi International Award in a special ceremony at International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization (ISTAC) in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, 8th December 2022.

Dr. Hossein Mirzaie, head of the Secretariat of the 12th Farabi International Award, announced the call for the 12th edition of the Farabi International Award to February 28, 2021.

According to the secretariat of the 11th Farabi International Award (FIA), at the closing ceremony of the Award, the owners of 19 selected national works (20 people) and seven selected foreign personalities in the field of Iranian Studies and Islamic Studies

The Minister of Science, Research and Technology appointed Dr. Gholamreza Ghaffari, Dr. Hossein Mirzaie and Dr. S. Abdol Amir Nabavi as secretary, Head of the Secretariat and the secretary of the scientific council of the 11th Farabi International Award, respectively.

The first news conference of the 10th Farabi International Award was held on Tuesday, March 6, with the presence of Dr Hossein Mirzaie, Head of the Secretariat of the Award.

 The first meeting of the policy council of the 10th Farabi International Award on Humanities and Islamic Studies was held in the office of the Minister of Science.

Dr. Mansoor Gholami, Minister of Science, Research and Technology and the Head of the 10th Farabi International Award, appointed Dr. Hossein Mirzaei, head of the Institute for Social and Cultural Studies, to the head of the 10th Farabi Secretariat and Dr. Seyyed Abdul Amir Nabavi, the Faculty member of the Institute as the secretary of the scientific council of the 10th Farabi International Award in separate letters of appointment.

The 9th Farabi International Award closing ceremony was held on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018 with the presence of the President, the Minister of Science, heads of universities and institutes of higher education, professors and scholars of the humanities and Islamic sciences in the International Conference Center.

Head of the Secretariat of Farabi International Award said the works received for the 9th FIA are in electronic format.

The Minister of Science, Research and Technology, Dr. Farhadi, and his deputy for Social and Cultural affairs, Dr. Sayed Zia' Hashemi expressed their sympathy for the loss of distinguished scholar, Prof. Dr. Victor Alkek.  

At a press conference held on March 13, 2017 , the Secretary of Farabi International Award, Dr. Sayed Zia' Hashemi officially announced the launch of  9th annual FIA 

7 selected foreign works on Iranian Studies and Islamic studies were praised at the closing ceremony of the 8th Farabi International Award.

The Award-giving ceremony of the 8th Farabi International Award took place on February 12, 2016, in Summit Meeting Conference Hall with the presence of Dr. Hasan Rouhani

“The deadline for work submission in the foreign sector of the Award was extended till September 21,” Head of the Secretariat of the Farabi International Award said. 

Only two weeks are left until the deadline to register foreign works at the electronic system of the Award, Secretary of the Eighth Farabi International Award announced, adding that those who are interested in submitting their works on Iranology and Islamic Studies should make sure to do so before the deadline.

“The Secretariat of Farabi Award plans to launch a Network of Humanities Elites, in which the winners of the previous Awards will be present,”Deputy Minister of Science, research and Technology for Cultural Affairs said.

Saying that the call for participation at the Eighth Farabi International Award has started, the Head of the Award Secretariat added, “A maximum of 35 winners are predicted to receive awards at this festival,” the Information and Advertising Department of the Secretariat of the Eight Farabi International Award reported

The second session of the Eighth Farabi International Award was attended by Dr. Patrick Ringgenberg, researcher of the Institute of ‘Culture, Religion, and Modernity’ at the University of Lausanne and winner of the sixth Award, and Dr. Ahmad Shakeri, researcher of the Faculty of Cultures and Interdisciplinary Studies at the University of Paris-Sorbonne, the Information and Advertising Department of the Secretariat of the Eight Farabi International Award reported.

Head of the Permanent Secretariat of Farabi International Award signed a memorandum of understanding for joint scientific activities, especially with regard to the exchange of professors and students and supporting the establishment of Farabi Studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

Registration of works in the field of Humanities and Islamic Research on the Website of the Eighth Farabi International Award began on May 21.
